Avid
Avid is great for mite control and has finally been labled for control of thrips. Long-time rosarians have known that Avid is the best product on the market for thrip control but we could not advertise this great attribute until it was offically labled as such. Avid works great on adult mites but will not kill the eggs. Therefore it is important to treat, wait 4 days, and then treat again to kill newly hatched mites. Usage is 1/4 teaspoons per gallon of water. As is the case with all miticides, do not spray them preventatively but only as needed. Mites have a tendency to build up resistance. Alternate miticides when economically feasible.
